Show Boat
Features of the Showboat Cut Call:
• Cut Design:
• Two batwing-style notches, one on each side of the top reed, creating an airflow pattern that enhances rasp and control.
• The dual cut design allows for easier break-over on yelps, making transitions from the front-end whine to the raspy back-end seamless.
• Provides a larger sound range than a single batwing cut while maintaining consistency and power.
• Sound Profile:
• Deep, throaty rasp with an aggressive roll-over.
• Sharp cutts and loud, attention-grabbing yelps that can cut through wind and distance.
• Can still produce softer, more subtle purrs and clucks with proper tongue control.
• Kee-kee runs are possible, though slightly raspier than traditional kee-kee calls.
• Usage:
• Ideal for aggressive calling, such as loud locator yelps, excited hen sequences, and cutting.
• Can be toned down for finesse work, but its true strength lies in its rasp and volume.
• Best For:
• Hunters who prefer raspy, powerful hen sounds that can reach distant turkeys.
• Those looking for a high-performance call that combines volume, realism, and control.
• Turkey hunters who want an all-around call capable of aggressive sequences while still handling close-range soft calling when needed.
I created the showboat to be a down the middle air flow call or even a call for those who don’t know what kind of air profile the put into a mouth call.
